A former MLB broadcaster is set to take the reins of the Hastings College baseball team, and the excitement is palpable! Victor Rojas, with his extensive broadcasting experience and a family legacy in baseball, is ready to bring his unique perspective and passion to the diamond.
But here's where it gets intriguing: Rojas, with an entrepreneurial spirit, seeks to turn around a program in need of a fresh start. He aims to leave his mark and inspire a winning culture. With his dad, Cookie Rojas, a former MLB player himself, Victor draws inspiration from a true baseball legend.
"When you have a teacher like my dad, you lean on that knowledge immensely. His drive and determination, despite the odds, are an inspiration. I aim to embody that spirit and give back to the game that has given so much to my family," Rojas shares.
The decision to join Hastings College was a natural one for Rojas. Having visited the college last summer, he felt an instant connection to the small-town charm and midwestern values. At 57, he was ready for a change of pace and a simpler life, away from the hustle and bustle of city life.
"Hastings College felt like home. It reminded me of my roots, and I'm thrilled to be a part of this community. My family is here, and we're all committed to making a positive impact," he adds.
And this is the part most people miss: Rojas isn't just about talk. He has a clear vision and a plan to shock the baseball world. With a talented group of recruits, he aims to win big and bring a conference championship to Hastings College in their first year.
